The Randy Rogers Band Is Living Proof That You Can Come From Nothing and Achieve Long-Lasting
The Randy Rogers Band has been a force to be reckoned with in the country music scene for nearly two decades, and it is clear that they are not going anywhere anytime soon.
With the release of an 11-track project this past October, the beloved band, consisting of Randy Rogers, Geoffrey Hill, Jon Richardson, Brady Black, Les Lawless and Todd Stewart, has even more new music on the horizon.
The Randy Rogers Band’s most recent release is a full-length album titled Homecoming, which features smash hits like “Picture Frames,” “Nothing But Love Songs,” “Fast Car” and more.
“Conjuring memories of first heartbreaks, small towns and cherished memories, Homecoming is the Texas band’s ninth studio album and marks their 20-year anniversary. The project is a renaissance for the Randy Rogers Band, keeping the sounds and traditions that have made them so beloved over the past two decades and delving into deeply personal topics sure to resonate with audiences around the world,” a press release shared.
“With Homecoming, our message is that we’re still together. It’s been all these years, I mean, same five guys. It’s tried and true. I don’t think there’s any other band that is in our genre of music that has been together as long and has had the success that we’ve had, so I hope that other young artists look at us and they think I can do that one day, and you can,” Randy told Celeb Secrets reporter Melanie Rooten backstage at CMA Fest 2023 before his performance at Ascend Amphitheater last month.
“We’re living proof that you can come from nothing, literally in, you know, an 88 Suburban, and then get into a van and then get into a tour bus and sign a record deal, and still be doing it 20 years later. We’re living proof that you can do that,” he gushed.

When asked about the overall production of the hit album, the Texas native revealed, “We made Homecoming with our producer, Radney Foster, who was the first person that led us to the door to Nashville, got us a record deal [and] got me a publishing deal. We made the record with him,”
“I’m about to go write as many songs as I can for another project that we’re gonna do with Rodney, so it is a little bit of a Renaissance [and] return to our roots,” he teased. “It’s been a lot of fun, and you know, I think Homecoming really like captured the same five guys that have been on stage together for 20 years, and we’re gonna try to do that again with this next thing that we’re gonna work on starting real soon.”
“I’m just now about to start to write the next thing, so if you have any song ideas, hit me on the DM,” the critically-acclaimed artist said with a grin.
When asked how he channels his creativity in the writing room, Randy Rogers gave us a response that had the whole room laughing.
He dished, “I love it when my friends break up with whoever they’re dating and they call me and they’re like, ‘I’m getting a divorce,’ and I’m like, ‘Do you wanna write a song?'”
“I’m pretty happy right now. I’ve got beautiful girls that are growing up and 10 years now with my wife, and so it’s kind of hard to write sad country songs nowadays, so I really look for anybody who is just desperate and broken. That’s who I need, really,” the talented singer-songwriter concluded.
Aside from his work in the Randy Rogers Band, Randy has been working on a collaboration series with Wade Bowen, with the third installment available now.
Hold My Beer, Vol. 3 is officially available to stream on all platforms, following up Hold My Beer, Vol. 1 from 2015 and Hold My Beer, Vol. 2 from 2020, and it is “packed with tributes to life on the road, things that never get old – and of course, drinking with friends.”
“Concocting six more original tunes full of fiddle, steel and friendship, Rogers and Bowen produced and co-penned each song on the new project, capturing the freewheeling energy of their live shows with a rabble-rousing EP perfectly suited for good times,” a recent press release wrote.
Bowen himself shared his thoughts on the three-part series, ultimately explaining to the public, “These albums are a party, a friendship, a brotherhood and an opportunity to do something different. I love writing these songs and I hope you feel how much fun we have together. That has always been the strength of Hold My Beer…and I think these are some of the best songs we’ve ever done!”

With over 20 years of experience under his belt, Randy Rogers has had quite an illustrious career, primarily within the Randy Rogers Band. Despite being one of the biggest country bands of our generation, there are always goals to achieve and dreams to chase….
“We set goals every year. I think maintaining a sponsorship with Shiner Bock beer, always having the beer deal… always maintaining those business relationships and just being creative,” the country crooner said with a smirk.
In all seriousness, “You don’t have to recreate the will in country music, it’s very simple to write songs and be honest and be real and genuine, and I think our fans can see that. That’s why we’ve been around for so long. You can’t fool anybody, so you know, the goal is just not try any much harder, just keep doing the same old thing, making great music, playing quality shows and hopefully getting in front of big crowds like tonight,” he dished.
Randy Rogers even extended some advice to those looking to grow their musical careers.
“If you’re a young artist out there, I think this,” he prefaced. “You work on your songwriting, you work on your guitar playing or piano playing or fiddle playing or whatever it is you do, and you find one spot… a local bar [or] a local tavern that has an open mic night.”
“You start there, you start building a crowd, you have a residence there, you get friends to come see you, you pay people to come see you, whatever you gotta do, but you know, start small and dream big, and that’s what I am. I’m a dreamer. I came from nothing and I’ve been here for a long time. You can do it too,” the seasoned artist concluded.
