6 years of separation and boxer Oscar De La Hoya officially ends his marriage
Oscar De La Hoya has filed for a divorce after 6 years of being separated from his wife, Millie Corretjer. The couple were working out their marriage from the outside for the past 6 years, but have now both filed for divorce to end it officially.
The boxer met Millie Coretjer when he was getting close to the music industry and was being featured in music videos. Millie Coretjer, who was an up-and-coming singer and actor, met Oscar for one of the music videos. The Golden Boy Promotions owner wanted her for one of his productions. Eventually, Corretjer and De La Hoya started dating and got married in 2001 and had 3 kids – Oscar Jr., Nina, and Victoria.
Millie Corretjer gave up her music career to look after her family. She was the most crucial entity during the boxer’s lowest point when he was battling substance abuse. The couple separated in 2018 and has been maintaining a very low-key relationship with Millie Corretjer releasing her fifth studio album Cinco.
Many believe that the reason for their separation may have been due to Oscar De la Hoya dating other women. Most recently Holly Sonders, to whom he gifted a red Ferrari for Valentine’s day in 2022. “The Golden Boy” and Millie Corretjer filing for a divorce is a long time coming. The couple finally taking the step makes a lot of sense since they haven’t been in any real contact since they separated 6 years ago in 2018.
Golden Boy Promotions and Dazn announced that they will extend their partnership with each other on May 2022. The two organizations have been working together since 2018.
A lot has changed since they first partnered back in 2018. Canelo, who was still a Golden Boy athlete, has since parted ways with them when things turned sour and the 4-time champion filed a lawsuit against the promotion to free him. Ryan Garcia (22-0) who is also a Golden Boy athlete has beat Luke Campbell for the WBC Interim Lightweight Championship and is soon going to return against Gervonta Davis. Vergil Ortiz Jr. (18-0) has made a name for himself by stopping all of his opponents.
It is safe to assume that the Golden Boy athletes when seen on such a big streaming app as Dazn can expect to gain fans overnight if they perform well. Oscar De La Hoya is also looking to get some more exciting prospects under his promotions, so expect to see these new fighters on Dazn soon.
